Major Palaces In Rajasthan

The northern region of India is worth visiting as the states located in this region are well known tourist destinations in India tourism. This region is also called as the Uttar Bharat/Aryavarta and there are six states and ne union territory in North India.
The states that fall under this region are Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Delhi is a union territory and is the second largest city in population. Delhi is officially known as the capital of India. The northern part of India offer numbers of tourist attractions like historical monuments, culture and traditions, wildlife sanctuaries and parks, holy shrines, hill stations etc. Each of these has their own beauty and charm. The states of North India share its border with China, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan.

During the 7th and 8th century, a new clan of people aroused who all came to known as the Rajput. Many parts of the northern India were ruled by the Rajput dynasties in early days. They all belonged to the warrior class of people from Rajasthan and few were from the central part of India. Apart from the warrior nature of Rajput, they are known for their trustworthy nature and loyalty. They are also known for their unique architectural wonders and till now we can still explore the living testimonials of the Rajput. Among all, some of the Major palaces constructed by them in early days are discussed as follows.

Hawa Mahal:

Hawa Mahal is also called as the “palaces of winds” or “palace of the breeze” is one of the major tourist attractions in the heart of Jaipur, Rajasthan. The palace was built by the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1799. The palace is built in the form of the crown of Lord Krishna and was designed by Lal Chand Ustad. There are 953 small windows which are also called as “Jharokhas”. The palace of winds is built by pink sand stones. Make your visit near the palace in early morning so that you can catch the striking glimpse of the palace. It is a worth visiting palace in Rajasthan.

Amber Fort:

Amber Fort is located at a distance of 11 kilometer away from Jaipur and is situated at the hill top of Amer town. The fort is the architectural blend of both Hindu and Rajput. It is a major tourist attraction. The fort is popularly known as Amber Palace and was built by Raja Man Singh I. The palace used to be the home stay of the Rajput Maharajas and their families in early days.

City palace, Jaipur:

The city palace of Jaipur still remains to be the royal residence of Rajasthan. The palace includes Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal and many other buildings. In today, Chandra Mahal has been turned into Museum. The palace was built between the year 1729 and 1732 by the ruler of Amber, Sawai Jai Singh II. The palace remains open from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM and it is the visiting hours for tourists.

Jaisalmer Fort:

Jaisalmer Fort located in the Jaisalmer city is the largest fort in the world and one of the most breathtaking monument of Rajasthan. It was built by Bhati Rajput ruler, Rao Jaisal in the year 1156 AD. Make sure you do visit Jaisalmer during your Rajasthan tour. The walls of the fort is built by yellow sands which sees like lion color during day and honey gold in the evening time so called as the “Golden Fort”. It is also popularly known as “Sonar Quila”.

Not only these four, there are many more palaces constructed by Rajput and each of them has their own specialty and attractions. The architectural monuments built at the time of Rajput have now become the major tourist attractions na dplays a vital role in Rajasthan tourism.
